A Secular Age: The Seminar

This blog is a dialogue space for PHIL 396, the spring 2011 senior seminar in the Philosophy Department at Calvin College, led by James K.A. Smith. We are engaging Charles Taylor's tome, A Secular Age, with a view to discerning the "making of a philosopher"--considering how Taylor's earlier work in philosophy of action, philosophy of social science, phenomenology, and hermeneutics enabled him to write the unique sort of book that is A Secular Age.

This blog will be an arena for sharing thoughts and reactions, debating issues and interpretations, and hopefully also a venue to share the fruit of student research.
